︎︎︎Approach
I chose to redesign Minerals: Nature’s Fabulous Jewels by Arthur M. Court and Ian Campbell, a volume of beautifully tinted rocks, quartzes, agates, pyrites, and gemstones. The visual language for the redesign is derived directly from these minerals and crystalline structures. Its enormous variation ranges from the brilliant reds of rhodochrosite to the rich greens of malachite and the subtle, translucent tones of quartz crystals. This new, lavishly illustrated volume makes us aware of both the great natural beauty and the tremendous importance of minerals in the world today.
